A beginner-friendly machine knitting course designed for everyone (over age 16) with little to no experience.

This foundational series introduces the essentials of single-bed machine knitting through both technical exercises and creative exploration. Across 5 classes, students will learn how to operate the machine, understand yarn behavior, and develop a range of experimental knitting techniques.

The course combines practical skills with playful material experimentation in a relaxed and supportive studio environment. Students will gradually build confidence while creating samples, textures, and eventually wearable knitted pieces.

By the end of the course, participants will have a strong understanding of domestic machine knitting fundamentals and the ability to continue developing their own creative textile projects independently.

• Class 1 — Introduction to Machine Knitting
  Learn the fundamentals of domestic single-bed machine knitting including yarn threading, machine tools, yarn types, and tension settings

These are two independent classes that can be taken separately based on individual interests. Each session focuses on a different creative machine knitting technique through demonstrations, hands-on practice, and experimental sample making.

The course encourages playful exploration of texture, structure, and material behavior while helping students build more confidence operating the knitting machine independently.

By the end of each class, participants will create a series of knitted samples exploring different technical and visual outcomes.
